We seemed to have struck a real nerve with our column last week on financial abuse. Thank you to all those people who contacted us with their experiences and also those concerned about the response from their partners when they asked them to share financial information.
As we suspected, this type of abuse is quite common.
However, even we have been surprised at how widespread financial abuse by adult children over elderly parents appears to be.
Managing the financial affairs of elderly parents is an area we will return to over the next couple of weeks and how siblings should be working together to provide assistance.
